I am drafting you this email due to you being Sgt. Smith’s direct supervisor. Sgt. Smith has been the Platoon 2 Supervisor for quite some time now. We as a shift want to give her a public thank you for her professional conduct, the way she deals with issues, and the comradely she has brought to this shift. Sgt. Smith keeps politics, rumors, and non police related issues out her roll calls. Sgt. Smith let’s us as subordinates know her appreciation for what we do and deals with problems by sitting down with officers and giving them realistic steps to provide solutions.
All of this department has dealt with morale, personal, and economic issues. Sgt. Smith makes it fun for us to come to work everyday, which quells the thought of those other issues. We additionally look forward to working with Sgt. Abdilla who additionally creates the same spirit as Sgt. Smith. I believe you will see a workforce on Platoon 2 that will have very little if any grievances, reduction in overall overtime due to the contractual bargained for use of our time, and a crew that can be an example to this organization.
On behalf of the union membership on platoon 2 we say thank you Sgt. Smith. I will immediately have this correspondence on our union website as a token of our appreciation.
